Elgin Pond plays a big role in recreation for local residents year round. The two largest uses are the Huck Finn Fishing day in the spring and public skating in the winter.

The Township of Uxbridge tests the ice thickness on Elgin Pond throughout the winter months to ensure it is safe for pleasure skaters and hockey enthusiasts alike. There are flags posted at the north end of Elgin Pond to let residents know if the current ice conditions are safe or not.

    • No Flags- is an indication that testing has not started yet
    • Red Flags- the ice is not safe to be on
    • Yellow Flags - Skate with caution and stay away from water inlets and outlets
