Bend Oregon Christmas Parade

by John and Sandy Kohlmoos
I've been wrongfully accused of writing too much . . . real estate in Bend Oregon, homes for sale in Central Oregon, Brasada Ranch foreclosures, blah, blah, blah. Well, as a wise man once said, "a picture is worth a thousand words" . . . this post will be mostly pictures.
Saturday, December 5, dawned gray and frigid (whatever happened to the 300 days of sunshine per year that COVA is always bragging about?), but nothing could dampen the spirits of thousands-spectators and participants alike- as they headed downtown for what has become a remarkable community celebration . . . the annual Bend Christmas parade.
There was something for everyone (at least for those dressed for the arctic!).
A 5 km "Jingle bell Run" for over 1500 bipeds of various sizes, shapes, and ages.
There were an astounding 87 floats entered.
There were the requisite high school marching bands,
the cute kids,
There were well-behaved canines,
even a hefty Clydesdale.
Of course, Santa made an appearance as well. He said that Bend was "colder than the north pole."
The highlight the parade without a doubt was, what appeared to be, a spontaneous, internet inspired, "flash mob" dance. It's guaranteed to put a smile on your face!
