365 Things to do in Bend, OR - Float the Deschutes River. It is a hot, hot Central Oregon Day. I can't think of a better way to spend it than floating down the Deschutes River from Riverbend Park, by the Old Mill District into Drake Park. This may seem like an obvious idea to long time residents but you must admit it's a good one.
A few things to know when floating the Deschutes River:
Where to Start your float: Riverbend Park or a little further west are great places to put your raft, tube, boat, floatie or Stand Up Paddle Board in the Deschutes River.
Be cautious around the Colorado Street Dam. Follow the orange bouys and exit the Deschutes River, walk around the dam then continue your relaxing float down to Drake Park.
Plan ahead, it's a leisurely float down the Deschutes river and great exercise to paddle back up. If you're not into the exercise part you can catch a ride for $1 on the Ride the River Shuttle. Click the link for the daily Ride the River Shuttle Schedule
SAFETY RULES for floating the Deschutes River:
So get out there, stay cool and have a relaxing day floating the Deschutes! Tonight being Thursday, is also Munch & Music at Drake Park, if you float in around 6pm you can get dinner at the park or listen to the tunes on the river.
My Deschutes River floating pictures didn't turn out today, guess I'll have to float the river another day and take new pics! For more fun things to do in Bend, Oregon check out our website or Like Things to do in Bend on Facebook!
