According to The Columbian, a newspaper serving residents living in and around Southwest Washington, Oregon ranked second out of 50 states as a popular inbound destination for people moving households in the first half of the year. This ranking was a result of an annual migration study completed by United Van Lines, a St. Louis-based moving company.
The survey recorded 1,716 household moves connected to Oregon, 59.3 percent of which were transported into Oregon and 40.7 percent of the moves were carried out of the state.
Washington state ranked 39th on a list of the most popular inbound destinations. Of the 4,366 household moves connected to Washington, 46.6 percent or 2,036 households were inbound and the remaining 53.4 percent were outbound migrations.
The Portland metropolitan area, including its surrounding suburbs, has indeed become a popular destination spot for people. Communities like the City of Wilsonville have seen a significant influx of people who were drawn to the area for its close proximity to downtown Portland as well as its exceptional quality of life.
Wilsonville's Villebois neighborhood is becoming a popular community for neighbors to relocate. From its easy access to public transportation to its future developments as a master planned community with space for retail and restaurants and residential (...oh my!), Villebois has been dubbed "America's Next Great Community".
