It seems like it was just last week when I was out enjoying the Big Deschutes River, and Wickiup - this morning we had our first dusting of snow. Although it was gone by noon it was there and tonight the temperatures are dropping again. It must be time to start thinking about winter and getting our properties ready for the snow.
Below is a quick list of the things we do around our home to prepare for the cold temperatures and snow.
Remember Spring is only 4 to 5 months away - and we will be enjoying the warm lakes and trails again. Enjoy your winter time activities and stay tuned for what Sunriver and La Pine have to offer for us this year.

Ah..I remember those days of gassing up the old snow blower...I moved south because I would rather not freeze...I did enjoy the snow but my property took a lot to maintain and get prepared. Now all I have to do is cut down tree limbs and close my shutters during hurricanes:)
Quite rubbing it in Neal. I do have a few relo properties I need to have winterized for the sprinkler systems.
Thesa, I wish I could relate but in Florida all we really need to make sure of is our roof is sealed and the A/C works..:-)
Thesa--As much as we hate to think about it, fall is the best time to get a home winter-ready in the northern states!
I'm still using A/C....I think Global Warming is making Hawaii a little warmer every year...
Like Neal I remember my snowblower...a shovel and my back! Great list for winter preparedness Thesa.
Thesa, Very good advice! You are bringing back the memories!
gosh it really is that time isn't... It seems like it happens overnight. We go from 90 degrees and sun to cold and stormy..You have to love that Oregon weather.
Thesa,
I don't think I am ready for snow yet! Brrrrr,..............
While you are digging out the coats, see which ones you no longer need and donate them to the local Salvation Army or Goodwill. Someone out there will appreciate the warmth!
If no one is doing a coat drive, there is an opportunity for someone to get a little PR and do some good in the community. Great post Thesa...there is lots to do to get ready!
SNOW???? It was 93 degrees here today. I was wishing the neighborhood pool was still open. I bet Mt Bachelor is beautiful covered in snow.
SNOW!?! OMG! I feel like we live worlds apart sometimes. I can't imagine that. We don't even start to have winter until around Christmas, and that's if we're lucky. Wow. I'm still trying to process that.
