Oregon's First Utility Independent Housing Development AND Affordable Housing in Ashland Oregon?!?!
The City of Ashlandhas approved a proposed development on the Ashland Greenhouses land owned by Greg and Valri Williams and their family for more than 100 years. There are 68 units proposed for this project, Verde Village, that will not only be South facing to gain the maximum sun exposure for the solar hot water heaters and photo voltaic systems on the roof of these homes, but these units as proposed will be fully utility independent with cisterns to catch rainwater off roofs, heavy insulation and bioswales and wetlands to treat storm-water run-off.
AND, the Williams have included 15 townhomes designated affordable housing! They approached local non-profit housing developers to construct these affordable homes, choosing Rogue Valley Community Development Corporation to develop and construct these 15 homes.
The City is making several exceptions to its code in order for this project to work, and the project is currently under review at the Planning Commission for annexation, subdivision outline plan approval and other related approval requests. Stay tuned for more opportunities for not only Affordable Housing, but Green Housing!

See you at the Closing Table!
