Fellow Americans, I don't know how many of you have 22,162 friends you can call on for a cause. Not just any cause, mind you, but a cause that will matter. It could even save someone's life.
I'm talking about using this network in the best possible way, in helping someone else. How many times do you hear the evening news talking about a missing child or person, a wanted criminal, helping our soldiers or a disaster so many miles away from each of us. How many times have you wished you could do something?
How about a project or cause that we can do something about? Andrew Maury shows us here that it doesn't have to involve our pocketbook, just a few minutes of our time. And John Wubell asks for our help in his post ''We Interrupt This Blog Now To Get Your Donations For A Very Good Cause". Neither asks for money, just our support.
Team Thayer brought to light this story of a missing woman from Eugene, Oregon. Do these articles deserve to be lost in the mass of posts here on Active Rain? I don't think so.
Those these stories are sometimes heart-wrenching, they give purpose to the idea of what is possible with the participation of 22,000+ members. And what is possible is OUR ability to change the outcome.
We all understand that Active Rain is a Real Estate network. I don't think most of these causes would qualify as real estate related. But I do believe that Active Rain and its members care about our neighbors and neighborhoods, and that there is a place for these articles to be heard. Since I don't see a group for this yet, I guess I'll be the first to start Share because YOU Care. Here, you can have a voice and the opportunity to do something good.
Please become a member and participate in posting here. We can't always change what happens in our lives, but we can change what we do about it. This is your opportunity to do something about it.
We are a community over 20,000 strong and we have a vast tool at our fingertips. How we use it is up to us.

Kelli! Wonderful Idea! I'm there!
Thanks Lysa-
I hope others will follow your lead. Thanks for taking the time to make a difference : )
That is a great idea, Kelli! I'm joining. There are quite a few people and causes in my heart. AR is a great platform to reach critical mass on important issues.
Another great ActiveRain idea! I'll be joining right away!
Happy Monday!
Kelli,
That lady was found in Tacoma, WA running from her responsibilities. I appreciate all yours and everyones else's efforts to try and spread the word. We need to call it something like Rain Alert when we have one of these posts that needs to be seen by the masses quickly. It seams to work for the whole amber alert thing. And another thing, Real estate agents see more people in a day out showing than most professionals, we should be actively distributing any amber alerts in your new forum!
Thanks Kelli!
Kelli,
Count me in too!!!
Elizabeth & Justin-Thanks for the update. Glad to hear she is safe : )
Dianne- Thanks for your support and your comment : )
