I decided a few days in Portland would be a nice trip for the family over spring break so we all loaded up and headed over the mountain. One of our favorite places to go is Oaks Park. This amusement park opened in 1905 and has been a family favorite ever since.

There are many things to do at Oaks Park, so plan on the whole day. Prices are VERY reasonable and it easy to see why families and children love to come here. There are rides for big kids, little kids and everything in between. My girls really enjoyed the roller coasters (2), the bumper cars, the Screamin Eagle (Yikes), and the Round-Up. I enjoyed the kiddie train and the go-karts. There is also a separate indoor skating rink.
If the weather is nice, you can pack your own lunch and enjoy it by the river at one of the many picnic tables. You may also plan a birthday party here, either at the facility or at a site of your choosing along the river. Along the midway are couple of places to eat, all very reasonable. Here, you can find cotton candy and ice cream, hot chocolate and icees or a burger and fries amongst other things.
If you are planning on coming to Portland with your kids, make Oaks Park a part of your vacation plan. You will not regret it.

Oaks Park is located next to the Sellwood Bridge in Portland, Oregon.
