Looks like I'll be the one to apologize to the nation on behalf of my local colleges performance last night. Many of you watched it on television. It was nationally recognized and will unfortunately never be forgotten. My team, the team I wait for all year long. The team I follow the scouting reports and training camps. The team that has 720 different uniform combinations. The team who has uncle Phil (Phil Knight). Played an absolutely terrible first game of the 2009 season.
Besides the fact that we handled the ball for no more than eight minutes the entire game. Besides the fact that we didn't even get a first down until the end of the 3rd quarter. Besides the face that Boise State fumbled the ball 3 times. And even besides the fact that we scored only 8 point the entire game. Why did the nations top running back have to ruin his career by throwing a punch to another player who taunted him? He has tarnished the schools reputation. We are not "thugs." We pride ourselves on our ability to always be competitive. We pride ourselves on our classy sportsmanship on and off the field.
For those of you nationwide that watched this public embarrasment, I can tell you right now this was completely uncharacteristic of the "Oregon Ducks Football Program."
My hope is that our coach takes appropriate action for the good of the program. As that will create some trouble ahead for the future of this school.
Unfortunately Chip Kelly (his first game ever as a head coach), we pray that you have the strength to do what is necessary for the good of the school and the future of this program.
As an Oregonian and prideful Oregon Duck Football fan i want to apologize on behalf of our lack of performance and unclassy sportsmanship.
