Triathlon This Weekend For a Fellow Active Rain User!!!!!!!-
Well for some of you that have been following my blogs, you have been reading about my training for a triathlon. Sorry for the gaps in the blogs about it. You might be saying whats the big deal with that?
Im 6'1" and weigh about 225lbs. I am large framed and athletic. But this is an endurance event. Something I lack. After college, I got a desk job and was introduced to the almighty "Beer." Its amazing how quickly you can gain 40 pounds. And how difficult it is to lose it...However, needless to say it was the mountain I chose to climb this year. Each year I find something ridiculous to accomplish and put my mind to it. Sometimes I accomplish it. Sometimes I don't.
This year I set off to do a triathlon. Not a sprint. which is 1/5 mile swim, 13 mile bike ride, and 3 mile run. No not me. Im too macho. I chose the olympic. .9 mile swim, 26 mile ride, and 6.2 mile run. The next level above that is the half iron man. Im very glad i decided not to do that. Which is the 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run. They call it the 70.3. Im glad i decided not to do that one.
I have been on a pretty good training schedule for the last 12 weeks. Being a title/escrow rep for Salem Oregon makes it very difficult to eat properly. Pretty much my job is to get coffee, take people to lunch, golf or go have a cocktail. Surprisingly I have managed to keep it in check.
When I started. I could run 2 miles and swim 2 laps without stopping in a pool. 11 weeks later. I can swim 30 laps in the pool without stopping. ride 40 miles on a bike, and run 6.2 miles. All without stopping.
Be inspired. It just goes to show we can do anything if we put our mind to it. Job, weight loss, business building. I turned it into a habit. Now when I don't go workout, something feels off. My girlfriend jokes, because she can tell when I missed a day at the gym. I'm usually a little bit crabby and irritable.
My triathlon is on Sunday in Seattle. Wish me luck!
I'll blog about it on Tuesday am. Be looking for that.
