~~ 1931 ~~ Rip Torn (who mistakenly took a bank for his home several days ago) was born in Temple, Texas.

~~ 1945 ~~ Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley was born in the village of Nine Mile in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica.

~~ 1952 ~~ Elizabeth II becomes Queen after her father dies. At that precise moment, she was in a treehouse at a hotel in Kenya.

~~ 1968 ~~ The 10th Winter Olympics began in Grenoble, France.

~~ 1978 ~~ One of the worst Nor'easter, dubbed "The Blizzard of 1978" struck New England. Snow fell at 4" an hour, and there were sustained winds of at least 65mph.
