Main Line restaurants

Yesterday I had the chance to eat at two good restaurants on the Main Line, one is a BYOB in Berwyn, being my birthday and my brother being in town he treated me to lunch at Tiramisu, located on the corner of Lancaster Ave and Knox it has quickly become a local favorite with seating hard to come by in the evenings. I know because we have tried to get in recently and been unable to find space. The kitchen is based on Jewish Roman cooking, I say based as it is not a Kosher kitchen with lobster and other shellfish on the menu. We had an interesting lunch, I had a Tuscan bean soup followed by a risotto primavera, the soup was great, the risotto a little salty and oily for my taste, my brother had grilled artichokes followed by a fish stew both of which he said were excellent. The stew was not overpowered by a tomato broth and the flavors of each fish stood out as opposed to some stews where everything melds together and you are not sure what you are eating.

In the evening Trudy and I had the opportunity to eat at the new restaurant in the Wayne Hotel called Paramour. The restaurant has been completely remodelled and the menu revamped under a new chef. Being a Monday night the restaurant was not that busy but still had a steady flow of patrons. You can choose to eat in the bar where they serve a bistro menu or the restaurant, we actually chose one of the banquettes in the bar and ate from the bistro menu, and looking over the two they were almost identical.

Trudy had a trio of fish tartares which were excellent and I had an oyster sampler also delicious. To follow we had seared snapper and grilled sea bass, both were excellent with nice vegetable selections, although again we both found the chef was a little heavy with the salt on the crust of the fish but both were beautifully cooked. We had an interesting wine with dinner a petite sirah from California called The Crusher, very nice and although we were having fish it went very well. For dessert we shared a raspberry linzer torte with a orange marmalade ice cream. The ice cream tasted great although the orange marmalade had sunk to the bottom so was in a glob all together. Coffee was excellent and I would definitely add this to one of the places to consider for a celebration dinner along the Main Line. Service was attentive without being over-powering and the decor definitely added to the whole meal.
