Even though I moved to the Poconos, over 5 years ago, the true peace and quiet can be found in Wayne County. More specifically, the type of peace and quiet as the degrees of said peace and quiet do vary and it is never more evident as when I had the pleasure to stay at the Windy Pond Farm and Guest Cottage in Lake Como, PA. The farm and cottage is owned and operated by Jim and Tracy Fawley, who I have had the pleasure to call my friends for almost 5 years now, having been able to get to know them through their home inspection company, Housemaster. Business aside, their love of animals and their work ethic extends to their farm even though farm work truly is a labor of love for them.
When you stay at the farm in the guest cottage, you will be pleasantly surprised. A wonderful combination of rustic charm meets all the modern conveniences from a full ultra modern kitchen, to large living and dining room areas and generous bedroom sizes along with two full baths, a loft area, front porch, rear deck and of course enjoying the grounds of the property where you can sit on the chairs by the pond and relax without a care in the world. Listen to the occasional frog jump in the water, see the cute duck pair get together for a swim and then watch when the goats and other animals come out for their special time. Kids, like my son Jonathan, will have a blast, like he did, feeding the chickens and goats, saying hello to the beautiful horses Mosey and Tank and just getting away from it all. They also sell goat milk soaps which are fantastic. Using the soap makes your skin feel so soft and you can use it on your hair too! I just threw out the heavy deodorant soaps filled with chemicals I have been using to go exclusively with these soaps. Life is truly beautiful and it is reaffirmed when you stay at Wind Pond Farm and Guest Cottage. When you go, tell them Jason sent you! for more information, visit them on the web at www.windypondfarm.com.
