50th Anniversary Football In June

The annual Big 33 High School Football Classic is this Saturday Evening, June 16 at Hershey Park Stadium.

This is the 50th edition of this game which now pits the top high school players from Pennsylvania versus the top high school players from Ohio.

One interesting fact about this game is that there has NEVER been a Super Bowl played without at least one Big 33 alumnus participating. Some of the best known Big 33 players to go on to pro football stardom are:

Tony Dorsett
Joe Montana
Joe Namath
Jim Kelly
Rocket Ismail
Dan Marino

and in recent years:

Ricky Watters
Marvin Harrison
Curtis Martin
and of course Ben Roethlisberger, who played for Ohio in 2000.

And one other thing, the Big 33 foundation, a not for profit, has awarded over $3,000,000 in academic scholarships from the proceeds of the games.
