I just finished reading the blog post by Don Fabrizio-Garcia titled Dependents' Day about the anniversary of his adoption of his first two children.
It reminded me that this Friday evening, Williams Grove Speedway in cooperation with Diakon Lutheran Services is sponsoring their fourth annual adopt a child night in conjunction with their weekly racing program. Williams Grove Speedway is located in Mechanicsburg off US Rte 15, about 10 miles southeast of Harrisburg.
Last year this event directly resulted in five adoptions generated from race fans at the event. Each participating driver (about 40) will carry a large photo of a child awaiting adoption on the car wings. In addition, many of the prospective adoptive children are in attendance and get to spend time with the driver and crew of the car carrying their photo.
