Public Golf in Dauphin County

With Summer in full swing, I am providing a list of PUBLIC golf courses in the Harrisburg-Hershey area for the visitor who wants to get in a round or two during their vacation:

Dauphin Highlands Golf Club is located at 600 South Harrisburg Street in the Oberlin section of Swatara Township. This was the former Bethlehem Steel Golf Club that the company donated to the county several years ago.

Deer Valley Golf Club is located at 100 Stoudt Road in Hummelstown, about 3 miles northwest of the Hershey attractions in South Hanover Township. It is the newest course in the area. The website has a neat hole by hole Layout Section with yardage, hole diagram and photos.

Harrisburg North Golfis located in outside of Millersburg at 1724 Route 25 North. This is about 28 miles north of Harrisburg.

Manada Golf Club is located outside of Grantville in eastern Dauphin County. This course is north of Interstate 81 and offers great views of the mountains on almost every hole.

Sportsmans Golf Club is located in Linglestown off Route 39. The course is close against the mountains and offer great views and a very testing layout that penalizes hooks and slices alike.

Sunset Golf Club is located about 4 miles south of Middletown off Route 441. They do not have a website. A highlight here is the closeness to Three Mile Island and the low flying airplanes that are turning and landing at the nearby Harrisburg International Airport.

Par Line Golf Course is located between Middletown and Elizabethtown on Route 230. This course is kind of wide open and doesn't penalize the errant shot as much as many of the older courses locally.

And not to be forgotten is the Spring Creek Golf Course in the heart of Hershey. Located right on East Chocolate Avenue, this nine hole course was completely revamped in 2005 and 2006. The rates are reasonable and it is very easy to walk.
