Snow on wooded branches and back roads. Enjoying the peace before atv's (all terrain vehicle) and snow mobiles arrive. Saw the first ice fisherperson in the shallow cove today.
WOW, look at all that open "tundra" space to play on Lake Wallenpaupack! Wait, Is the Ice Safe?
Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission put this wonderful flyer together to help you/me have fun on the ice. With 12 miles of Lake Wallenpaupack and couple miles of Wallenpaupack River plus surrounding smaller ponds in Pike and Wayne Counties, this flyer came in handy for me.
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission flyer helps you determine safety play based upon your activity weight upon the ice: How much ice thickness is required to support the weight of your activity upon it?

Couple weeks earlier my friend was telling me of his atv plow used to clear off the pond for play with the holiday visitors that resulted in the need to call a tow truck to pull the atv out of the pond. The ice was not thick enough for ice play. I sent the flyer over to my friend.
Have fun this winter and thought maybe we should wear life jackets too!
