Managing Anxiety When Buying or Selling a Home in Bucks County, PA - Bucks County REALTOR (R) Shares her Thoughts!
It’s surprising what kids worry about as they head off to the first day of school.
Yesterday morning was spent tackling the “what ifs.”
“What if I have a bully in my class?”
“What if people say I look like a dork in this shirt?”
“What if I have to go to the bathroom and I can’t get this stupid button undone?”
One thing that really struck me was when my 2nd grader said, “How will I know what stuff to put in my desk?” I told him the teacher would let him know, but he still asked me a few more times to make sure.
I thought to myself how frustrating and scary that must be - to not know something as basic as where to put your stuff. If you don’t know where your pencils go...well, you’re really wading into the unknown if you don’t know something as simple as that, aren’t you?
I know Mason’s teacher. I know she’s going to be exceptionally organized and she’s going to be very clear about what “stuff” goes in his desk.
It’s something that I’m going to try to keep in mind with my clients. For many people buying or selling a home, they are really flying blind and need help with even the most basic steps. When you do something every day, sometimes it seems so clear what the next steps should be, or where you put things. Real Estate Agents need to remember that for many Buyers and Sellers, they need clear direction on even the little things because it’s something entirely new to them.
I’m very good at helping Buyers and Sellers in Bucks County manage the “big picture” and I’m pretty cognizant of the huge emotional turmoil that goes with selling or buying a home in Bucks County. I’m going to make an effort to really focus on being clear about the million “little” things that crop up during a real estate transaction.
Sometimes, they produce just as much anxiety as the big things.
