I operate my business on this belief system:
"Treat people the way you want to be treated"
Purchasing your first home can sometimes rattle your nerves. Many first time home buyers don't know what to expect or what comes next. You fill out your mortgage paperwork and jump through all the hoops that the mortgage company requests and then silence. All of a sudden- nothing. I make a point of touching base with my clients at least two or three times a week- EVEN when there is nothing to tell them. I call or email and say, " Just calling to let you know that I don't have anything new to tell you, but that isn't a bad thing." Sometimes there just isn't anything going on; plain and simple. But during that silence, a first time home buyer can let their imagination run wild with worry. Communication is important even when there's nothing to communicate.
Recently, I had an experience with a mortgage company that refused to return my calls and emails for over a week. When I finally got to speak with them, the response was, "I didn't have anything to tell you so I didn't want to bother you". Bother me? It bothered me more not hearing anything. Sometimes Silence just isn't golden.
