Awaking to Sad News

This morning while listening to the local news, I heard a story that I did not want to hear.

Michelle Hendershot, a woman I have known for a couple of years, and her family had a fire in their home Sunday early morning.

The daughter escaped the fire without any injuries, but her mom was not so lucky. Her mom is in critical condition in the burn unit of a local hospital. Her face and hands were burned, and hair singed. Their home and everything in it was totally lost in the fire.

Michelle's husband had health problems and when the family was unable to care for him anymore, he was placed in a nursing home. Since that time, the family had been struggling financially. Their electric service had been cut off recently and were using a kerosene heater to keep the house warm. It seems that the heater was the cause of the fire.

My prayers and thoughts are with Michelle and her family in their time of need.
