The first reason it is important for us to meet is to build a base of knowledge regarding the buying process. The early education process will save time in the end. You, as a potential buyer, have the opportunity to ask questions and to learn.

Secondly, this early conversation allows an unencumbered time to go over the Consumer Notice and to discuss the benefits of signing a Buyer Agency Agreement. This contract offers many benefits to you. As an agent who signs this agreement with a buyer, I now owe you, loyalty, confidentiality and a good faith effort to find the home desired. When this is explained properly, I rarely find buyers who do not want to sign it.

Another important reason to meet is to develop the relationship and to set expectations. This early conversation helps us get to know each other. This is done within the safe confines of our office without a hurried atmosphere.

A fourth reason I like to meet you before we see houses is to go over the financial picture. I will ask your permission to pass your information to a lender. The lender will contact you and determine if you will be pre-approved for a mortgage. When this is done before our meeting, we now know important search parameters regarding price.

Finally, this meeting will help me hear what type of house you want and can afford. You will describe the amenities you want, discuss your lifestyle needs and dream about the place you want to call home.

When you decide to buy a home, sitting down in the office is well worth the investment of time that is required.
