Holiday Home Rewards


In recognition of the holidays, Mayor Gary Hess is challenging all residents and businesses to let Haven glow for the holidays! The sixth annual decorating judging contest kicks off this month. Judging will take place from November 24th thru December 18th.


Over 90 commemorative ornaments and certificates will be awarded to those who do an excellent job decorating their properties and business.


Nominations are welcome. Call the mayor's office at 570-385-3450.

November 27th (Sunday) - Kick off the Holiday Celebrations

  • 1 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. - Holiday Open House in the downtown area

  • 2 P.M. - Annual Christmas Parade. (Anyone who wishes to enter the parade please contact Vicky at Lewis News 385-2460.)

  • 5 P.M. - Annual tree lighting Ceremony (on Parkway)


December 3rd (Saturday) - Annual Children's Christmas Party (Up to Age 10)

Open to all children up to age 10 living in Schuylkill Haven, attending the Schuylkill Haven School District, or attending St. Ambrose. Register by calling the Recreation Center at 385-1313 or visiting the Recreation Center by November 30th.

December 10th (Saturday) - Holly "Rose" Trail

Enjoy a stroll of Schuylkill Haven area homes, churches, and businesses. The second annual Holly "Rose" Trail begins at the Church of the Nazarene at 220 W Main St.


Participants should stop by the church between 1:30 P.M. and 2:30 P.M. to redeem tickets for the Holly Trail Pass.


The trail will conclude with a tea at the First United Church of Christ, Route 61, near the entrance to Penn State Schuylkill Campus. A door prize drawing will take place at 5:15.


Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Advance tickets are available at Hess Catering, Lewis News Agency, Schuylkill Haven Borough Hall, Luckenbill's Family Restaurant, and Klinger's Trucking Notary.
