It's important for a any group to have integrity and to live, as best we can, by the Virtues that have been a part of the human condition. This certainly applies to the PEI Real Estate Association in Prince Edward Island, Canada. PEI Realtors go by the Realtor Code that was formed to protect the interests of clients and customers in the PEI Real Estate services. There may be those PEI Realtors that want to deviate from the Realtor's Code from time to time, but it is at their peril to do so. Agreeing to abide by the Realtors Code is a condition of membership into the PEI Real Estate Association. Members of the PEI Real Estate Assocition are also members of the Canadian Real Estate Association.
Some of the requirements of the PEI Realtors Code includes the following:
- Realtors must disclose in writing whom they are representating in a PEI Real Estate transaction.
- Financial agreements between PEI Realtors and others in the transaction must be fully disclosed.
- Realtors must disclose if they are acquiring an interest in a PEI property.
- Realtors cannot use the terms of an offer agreement to negotiate commission.
- PEI Realtors shall not perform Appraisals unless they have the proper training to do so.
The PEI Realtors Code is important to the PEI Real Estate market in that it gives the buying public an assurance that the Realors are adhering to an honourable set of values that protect them in their PEI Real Estate negotiations.
