Building a team os associates for Home Staging - and which ones?

I have been thinking that having a group of people with complementary skills and who I can call upon for help in different situations will boost my confidence, will make me appear more professional (and bigger) and will provide better service to my Home Staging clients. All the things I want...Plus, as Debra from the Staging Diva has taught me, I can also make extra money by referring them to my clients.

So, I set out to find these people and the funny thing is that they have started finding ME (but more on that a bit later). I have talked to an Interior Decorator and an Interior Designer, a handyman, a painter, a landscaper, a cleaning service, a Professional organizer and others. All of them have agreed to an informal collaboration, referrals and mutual help/support! I continue to search for opportunities to expand my network and I believe that knowing these people will bring good things to them and to me.

As I mentioned on my previous blog, I am working really hard on my Website, doing it myself. Even if my site is not 100% to my liking from the visual point of view (sorry, Craig) as I am still learning, I focus on making it optimized for Search Engines and it's starting to work. As my traffic increases steadily every month, more people contact me and that brings me back to the topic of building a team of good associates/partners. In the last week, I have had 3 requests from people interested in working with me - two of them are graduates of an Interior design school and one lady would like to be my general help (on call basis) - whatever the client might need doing (such as cleaning, decluttering, organizing, packing, painting, organizing junk removal, shopping for items....).

I am a bit surpised at this - is it a sign that Home Staging is taking off in Montreal as well?

Now, all I need is hundreds of realtors and home-owners knocking on my door - I'll be ready with a great team to back me up!!!!

Sveta - let me be the first to congratulate you. You are a smart business woman. I have no doubt you will rise to the top.

Good Job, Sveta! ( I love your name)  I, too, have been working on these things.  I recently added a flooring/window treatment company for my rehab clients.  I also have a handyman for painting and minor repairs and an electrician.  I added an electrician when my client needed to change out some light fixtures and couldn't figure out how to do it.  I can do that myself, actually, but I already had a lot ot other things to do...

Anyway, way to go!

i think staging is rising all over the nation! ;) it's a wonderful idea to idea teams of professionals to your team. it will only be a win-win situation for everyone

cheers,

cindy

I believe staging is VITAL and you are very clever to be setting up an informal team like this.  Great to have a "go-to" person when you have a client that needs something done.  It makes you look good, the client is happy not to have to search for a reputable company and you'll receive future work through referrals.  Great job!

Well, Sveta - at least you've got your team in place!  It sounds like you're ready to roll and the 'busy season' is almost upon us, so good luck with your website (I'm looking forward to seeing it when it's done)...please let us know when we can view it!

Hi Sveta:

You and I have been playing phone tag-I apologize. We are fellow Montrealers, and both graduates of the Staging Diva program. I agree with you that it really is encouraging when people come knocking on your door. Not too long ago, Montreal seemed like it was in the prehistoric days when absolutely NO ONE I spoke to knew what the hay Home Staging was. We all got disgruntled looks from our loved ones "You're doing what?  Oh how fun for you..." So we had to find the confidence within ourselves and then got a big boost when AR was developed. Good for you! The wealthiest people say, "Always work at something you are passionate about." If that's the case then we all just hit the jackpot!!
