New Real Estate Site in Montreal Quebec for Realtors and The Public

New Real Estate Site in Montreal Quebec for Realtors and The Public

A new public real estate portal has been launched today by the Greater Montreal Real Estate Board (GMREB).

It is superior to any of our existing portals for functionality, navigation and in all provides a great user experience to the public seeking listings on their own.

All MLS® properties in the province of Quebec are well represented as are communities and the services they offer along with the real estate agents that help realize clients dreams.

Map Search

The map search has been greatly improved to provide a true ability to obtian an overview of properties from many different zoom levels.

1. Quebec province with major sector groupings a user can clck on to zoom in on a region.

Centris Quebec

2. Westmount, Quebec showing listing groupings and the number of listings per group.

Centris Westmount, Quebec

3. Westmount, Quebec individual listings and smaller listing groups.

Issues:

As with all Beta versions, there are bugs that the public will find instantly and the real estate board will have to address in updates. The first I noticed is the infamous Back button on the browser. What does everyone do when they want to go back a page? Why click the Back button of course. When this is done, the map scale you were at is erased and you have to begin zooming in again.

The second thing that came clear to me, or should I say, not clear at all is the new extra small default font size. Only the under 45 group will not notice.

Third is the Navigation tips are posted in the bottom left-hand frame of the page. It would be better to follow convention and place it in the top right of the page with an appropriate icon rather than a heading.

My experience with the GMREB is that they do respond to suggestions and are definitely commited to making their products work as best as possible while making them user-friendly.

This is a superior portal and search engine I hope will strengthen the MLS® brand within our real estate community.

Way to go GMREB!
