An Old Pro...

Beaufort, SC, Real Estate, We've all gotten the call before, from either a perturbed seller, or a concerned (or nosy, take your pick) neighbor...Your listing was lit up like Grand Central Station all night!! There had been a showing earlier in the day, and every light had been left on. Oh, brother.

As I was settling in Saturday night, enjoying Jaws: The Inside Story, on the History Channel, it dawned on me. I had turned on all the lights for a showing earlier in the day, and didn't go back to turn them off.

I was sure the place looked like Vegas, a stark contrast to the other neighbors, who were turning off lights as they headed to bed.

So, in the midst of what was a fascinating inside look at the making of the first summer blockbuster, I hopped in the car, and headed towards my listing. Letting every light in the house burn through the night was certainly not an option, was it? As I rounded the last curve and approached the house, I was warmed and heartened to see the dark silhouette of my listing, hidden discreetly behind a beautiful old oak tree, where I had expected to see big-city lights, and maybe even a chorus line of dancers on the front porch.

Dark never looked so good. The Realtor had turned the lights off. Every last one of them.

Of course, this Realtor is one of my favorites, one of the best, most trusted agents in town...An old pro, you might say, whom anyone could trust with one of their clients.

So, it was all for naught that I made my late-night drive across town. Thank you, Pat. You made my weekend, first for showing my listing, and then for being so darn thorough, and maybe even saving me a little face in the meantime.
