The other evening, I attended a meeting in Carolina Forest to listen and learn about the proposed plans of this area. Being a resident, and a Realtor in this community, it is extremely important to find out exactly what lies ahead for this growing part of the beach. While we have certainly experienced growth beyond most everyone's wildest dreams, the infrastructure of Carolina Forest most certainly needs some attention. Unfortunately, the roads in Carolina Forest did not receive priority when it came time for the funding of roads for the Riding on a Penny Program in Horry County.
Ms. Gilliand and Mr. Gosnell stated to those in attendance that Postal Way should be completed by November 1st, which would definitely alleviate some traffic. They also showed a plan for proposed widening of roads within our area. Both Carolina Forest Blvd and River Oaks were part of this plan, although they did not quite know when it would begin.
Also proposed to be in the works within the next 14 to 16 months is a Library and Recreation Center that will be located over on International Drive. International Drive is another project that badly needs completed, and there is no definite timeframe on that project either.
I certainly hope that the Carolina Forest area will get the representation that we desperately need to improve our infrastructure, and be able to get projects such as these completed.
