HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE WEEKEND
Plan to shop the 21st annual Holiday Open House from November 5 through 8. Store hours are Thursday until 9pm; Friday and Saturday until 7 pm and Sunday from 1-4 pm.
Santa will be visiting each participating store on Saturday. Times and places to be announced later. Get your Christmas shopping done early. As plans progress, information will be posted on our website www.chapinchamber.com
CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE AT PALMETTO FINE ARTS
Crooked Creek Art League invites you to a gala art affair at Palmetto Fine Arts, 107 Virginia Street in Chapin. The event will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 5, 6 & 7 (from 10 AM to 6 PM), and Sunday, November 8 (from 1 PM-4 PM).
Come meet local artists and enjoy wine, appetizers and demonstrations of artwork in various mediums. Learn how artists integrate head, heart and hands to create original works of art. Discover the reason the word “art” came to be in the middle of the word “party”.
Crooked Creek Art League artists will share with you their sources of inspiration, the painting process and answer questions about their art.

JAUNEZE GIST, AUTHOR OF ‘MAMA’S BEST RECIPES’
Join Chapin resident, Jauneze Gist, as she discusses southern cooking techniques and signs copies of her new book, Mama’s Best Recipes. Not just a book of family recipes handed down from generation to generation, Jauneze’s cookbook also entertains you with 100 years of family stories that will make you laugh and make you cry. Come in out of the cold to warm up with a taste of some of Jauneze’s warm southern delights just in time for the holiday baking spree!

OLD CELL PHONES NEEDED
If you or anyone you know, has old used cell phones, please consider donating them to Cell Phones for Soldiers. The proceeds from this program are used to purchase prepaid calling cards for American troops. Now that the holidays are approaching, there is a great need and this is an almost painless way to help. The drop off location is Roberts Law Group, 161 Chapin Road. Please remove the battery and place tape over the terminal ends before drop off.

LAKE MURRAY PRESBYTERIAN HOLIDAY BAZAAR
Presbyterian Women at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church are sponsoring their 9th Holiday Bazaar on November 7 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Fellowship Hall will be stuffed with handmade items from our many creative members; the Bake Shoppe will be filled with "flour" arrangements & frozen casseroles; Men of the Church will be serving lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; 26 independent vendors will be set up in our gymnasium. November 7 ELECTRONICS WASTE RECYCLING AND PAPER SHREDDING
A one day electronics waste recycling and paper shredding event will be held on November 7, from 9.am. until 1 p.m. in the Wal-Mart parking lot on Harbison Blvd.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14 - ADOPT AN ISLAND
Lighthouse Marina is teaming up with Keep the Midlands Beautiful and SCE&G for the Adopt an Island program. LHM has adopted Susie Ebert Island on Lake Murray. Come on out to the marina November 14 and take a boat ride to Susie Ebert Island to pick up litter with the Lighthouse Marina crew. We will be launching at 10 a.m. and working until about noon before heading back to the marina for hot dogs. Call the marina at 749-1554 if you would like to volunteer.
