Forgive me in advance if I don't paint the proper picture for this story. I'm a real estate agent and mathematician. I AM NOT A WRITER!
While watching the 10pm WACH newscast on this evening, I was introduced to the story of Kevin Adams. I was really touched by his story and had to submit this entry into my blog before retiring for the night.
Kevin is a young man that was born with cerebral palsy which has him relying on a wheelchair for most of his mobility. During today's special event, the operative word in that previous sentence is MOST!
Kevin WALKED to the podium and received the Governor's Citizenship Award from Gov. Mark Sanford. The award is a wonderful event in young Kevin's life. Walking to receive it puts him one step closer to making his dreams and goals a reality.
Kevin's Dad.......Major Adams is currently stationed in Afghanistan with the 218th. Kevin set a goal for himself. He was going to walk without the use of any aids before his father returned from his tour of duty.
The 20-foot (approximately) walk from his wheelchair to the podium took years of hard work, persistence and years of physical therapy. However, today's achievement sparked this comment from his mother.
"His dreams have now become his goals, and now it's just a matter of obtaining them within a reasonable period of time" -- Geneva Adams
What is one of Kevin's next goals? When Major Adams gets back to the states, Kevin says........."I'm gonna walk up to him and give him a big hug."
Congratulations Kevin! You are an inspiration to many! Always follow your dreams!
May God continue to bless you and your family!

David, neat ThemThem to Kevin, great determination on that young mans part!
Thanks so much for sharing Kevin's story with us! What an inspiration. Kevin reminds us that we are ALL called to make the most of our lives, in spite of our weaknesses. He might actually make me stop whining for at least a day or two! <<<smile>>>
