When Considering Golf Communities, Do Your Homework

Dataw Island, Beaufort, SC Purchasing property in a country club community can be daunting, and exasperating, experience, especially if there is an equity membership involved. There are fees that are paid at closing, and fees that are paid after closing.

There are golf membership options, and there are social membership options. There are dues which apply to improved property (aka, with a home on it), and dues which apply to unimproved property. There are trail fees and green fees and annual fees. Sometimes, there is a temporary assessment in place.

Oftentimes, property owners must buy a club membership of some sort. Some of these memberships run in excess of $40,000.

This is not to discourage anyone from looking at propeprty in a nice, gated country club community, in search of that perfect home or homesite. For those looking for a very manicured, country club lifestyle, these communities can be a home run. In face, we have one such community right here in Beaufort, and it is beautiful. Dataw Island is on St. Helena Island, just east of downtown Beaufort.

The golf course is green and lush. The views are panoramic, and seemingly unending. Historic Downtown Beaufort is just around the corner. The beaches of the Atlantic Ocean are a short drive away.

There is just a lot of stuff which should be known, and a lot of homework to be done, before making a purchase. Dataw Island just made available its fee schedule.. I thought I would share this very useful information. To view, visit http://tinyurl.com/2cq4dl8.
