Tri-County Tech Breaks Ground in Easley SC

Good news people! Sometimes it is hard to find the time to blog and sometimes it is hard to find something to talk about. Tri-County Technical College broke ground Friday on a 37.51-acre property on Powdersville Road in Easley that will become the site of the college's third branch campus. Now if that isn't good news I don't know what is! I attended the original Tri County for various training classes over the years, which even included my initial training to become a Realtor. Tri County is a world class educational facility that really has helped Anderson, Oconee and Pickens counties.

The projected opening date is late 2009 or early 2010. Anytime we can get more well trained qualified people to the various companies in the area it will benefit all of us in the long run. Nothing will motivate a company to locate here more than a large pool of skilled potential employees. Well, maybe low taxes might help more! Since we are located almost exactly halfway between Atlanta and Charlotte right on the I85 corridor, it just makes sense that many businesses could be successful here.

We all know the projected growth, and have experienced the tremendous growth in the past 20 years in Upstate SC. I am glad to see we are working on improvingthe educational opportunities available. The plethora of choices for colleges and technical schools is becoming almost overwhelming.

The first building on the site will be the QuickJobs Training Center. It is funded through a $986,364 grant from the state Department of Commerce to Pickens County. The QuickJobs Training Center will assist in work force training and skills development. Instructors from the Corporate and Community Education and Industrial and Engineering Technology Divisions will teach training courses specifically based on locally identified needs and shortages.
