ANOTHER YEAR WITH NO HURRICANES IN BEAUFORT COUNTY! So, what's new with that? We haven't had a hurricane here in over 100 years but that doesn't mean it's not on our minds during the season.
The 2008 Hurricane Season ends today, December 1, 2008. According to news reports, this was one of the most active seasons since 1944 with 16 storms formed and 8 hurricanes. Five of those were classified as Category 3 or higher, meaning winds can be 130 miles per hour and major flooding occurs.
We did get some pretty significant rain storms this year but actually, we were pretty thankful for that.
Until next year-------
