Hall of Shame:

As I'm working on my last load of laundry for the evening, I'm lamenting about how much I hate my dryer. I bought it as a set because it was pretty, it had a lot of buttons and drying options, a steel drum and most importantly: it was available in stainless steel. The front loading washer and dryer set me back about $ 2,600 a couple of years ago and the dryer has been giving me headaches since that fateful day when I first plugged it in. This is actually the second dryer; the manufacturer sent it to me after being unable to fix it, following about a half dozen attempts to do so. If I can save someone else the aggravation here it is: the offender is an LG dryer. Don't get one! The washer is good, the dryer is horrible!

Hall of Fame:

I love my dishwasher! It's so quiet that you can't even tell it's on. You have to look to the floor to see if it's washing: there is a little red light reflecting on the floor to indicate that it's on. The dishes come out spotless, regardless of how dirty they were when they went in. It can delay the wash for many hours and consumes very little soap or water. The brand: Bosch. I will never buy another brand of dishwashers again. It's the best dishwasher I've ever had!

Now it's your turn: please share your appliance Hall of Shame/Hall of Fame story! As Real Estate Agents, advisors and investors in Real Estate, appliances are very important.

I would love to hear your stories of praise or contempt, love or hate for a particular appliance!

Mirela, I just purchased a Bosch washer and dryer this afternoon.  I'll update my post after I've used it for a month or two.

CONGRATULATIONS!  It's the best investment in an appliance you've ever made.  You will rave about it, you'll see!  Go easy on the dishwashing soap; I only use less than half of the normal dosage.

I love my kenmore elite. Its the best set I have ever had. The steam dryer gets wrinkled clothes ready to wear with no ironing in 5 minutes.

I've heard the same good things about the Bosch dishwashers and know that will be the brand I choose for my next purchase.

I am Bosch dishwasher, washer and dryer!! No horror stories for years, I used to work for Bosch back in Germany and I can recommend it any time.

A few years ago, I put in a washer and dryer on the second floor of my house - the compact Kenmore stackables.  I love them!  They work!  That's all I ask of an appliance!

Well, I do not know what the best is, but I am happy to weigh in my opinion of what is NOT good. I have a GE stainless side by side refrigerator and although it works well to keep my groceries, the design is miserable, absolutely miserable. If anyone has a suggestion for an ergonomic and well organized refig. I am all ears. Hint, no side by sides :)

Thanks

Bo

Time for my 2 cents!

Whirlpool Duet Washer: Blew up after about 5 years.. who would have guessed that a washing machine would go on fire??? Laundry room full of smoke fun Fun Fun!  Bottom line: part was warranted, but $500+ labor to fix it.  Ended up buying a LG washer, hope that wasn't a mistake??? seems to work well, it has been a few months and it works pretty well.

Whirl pool Duet Dryer: Still working, seems to work well, but the sensor dry sometimes leaves the cloths damp and we have to run it for a second time. Part of this could be the way the builder ran the dryer vent, to many turns in the vent line...  it is 'ok' but because of the bad experience with the washing machine.. I probably wont buy another one.

Fisher Paykel dishwasher: (not sure on the spelling there) .... I have every appliance in my kitchen hidden, it looks like another bank of pot drawers... Love that part about it.  It is very quiet, and it is basically 2 dishwashers in one that are independent of each other, It sounds like Mirela loves her bosch more than I love my FP, but I am happy with it.

Insinkerator Insta Hot: First off, How did I ever live with out instant hot water at my sink??? This is a must in a kitchen...  I am actually on my second one... The first one leaked after a lot of years (still worked, just started dripping under the sink) The one I replaced it with now has a stainless tank vs the original model that was plastic... they improved it and I doubt it will ever leak.. so it is rated a "buy" in my book.  Add in a SEAGUL water purifier and a hot and cold option and you don't need bottled water.

The best appliance we purchased was for our basement... a simple stackable set of Maytags. The second set works well when the clothes pile-up- we have a few kids who go through more wardrobe changes than a Madonna concert.

Mirela, I've used my Bosch washer and dryer several times since I got them.  They are very quiet.  You were absolutely correct - I love them!

Leolinda:  I thought you got a dishwasher (that's my Bosch).  I guess I will be replacing my current LG Washer & Dryer with Bosch.  Thank you so much for sharing!  I really appreciate it!  I sincerely detest my LG dryer.  I think I'll get a Bosch dryer this week.  I'm excited about it already!
