NAR Is Now Offering a Short Sales and Foreclosure Certification

NAR has recently started offering a Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource (SFR) Certification. All areas of distressed properties will be covered: Short Sales, Foreclosures and Real Estate Owned, along with pertinent state and federal laws.

To earn the certification, Realtors® must complete a one-day education program, either in-person or online, as well as three one-hour Webinars. Applicants interested in obtaining the SFR certification will need to complete a one-day short sales and foreclosure course offered by either REBAC or CRS. As part of the ‘Right Tools, Right Now’ initiative, NAR will offer the REBAC Short Sales and Foreclosure course at a reduced rate and waive the application fee through the end of this year.”

Earlier this year I earned the REOS Certification and I plan on garnering this more official Designation. Even if I only learn one or two new things, it will be well worth it (the preponderance of my business is now distressed sales related). With nearly one-third of all existing homes sold recently being either short sales or foreclosures (according to NAR), it’s about time we have an official designation dealing with this important part of our business! What are your thoughts on it? Is this a designation you plan on garnering?
