MaMa Liz's Birthday

Some of ya'll know my mother, MaMa Liz, from ActiveRain and I think her personality shines through on her blog. For those that only know her through the internet I thought I would take a moment to share with you something you may not already know about her.

She LOVES BIRTHDAYS!!!!!!!!!! And it happens to be hers today!

I have never seen someone who loves a celebration as much as she does. At home, we move from one special event to another almost every day and if there is not another one immediately lined up after the last, well then we just have to start celebrating the next early.

President's day, Flag day, our pets' birthdays, Arbor day. take your Manicurist to lunch day, you name it, we have a full blown event! And when one of the majors roles around,like horse racing we have our own triple crown of holidays (Christmas,Fourth of July, & any family birthday), well you can only imagine.

Weeks of preparation and agonizing over who,what,when,& where this MAJOR EVENT will be acknowledged.

Don't take me wrong. It is an amazing privilege to be her child and my children have grown up with Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, Uncle Sam, the Tooth Fairey and a different odd character every halloween, all in one. Rooms filled with presents, each individually wrapped greet us every christmas and birthday morning. She puts her heart and soul into making each one a special event for everyone around, not just family.

At the same time, she still manages to carry off of all her duties at AgentOwned Realty. Enthusiastically meeting each day with a "wonderful,wonderful" for all she sees and buying lunch for which ever stranger is the lucky one in line behind her at chick fil a when she goes to the drive through for her mid morning diet coke.

Now some others who are so giving and selfless would let their birthday pass by without a word. But not MaMa Liz. She LOVES HER BIRTHDAY. The referennces start at least a month prior, and increase in frequency up to the day. For example, if it is a week before her birthday she may at dinner say"Please pass the fried chicken, oh and that reminds me, does anyone happen to know what the weather forecast next Thursday, my BIRTHDAY, is?" Notice how she can slip in a mention into almost any subject? She is the consumate pro.

Last night she told us that she had received an early birthday present. She had gotten another GOLD STAR on ActiveRain. You have never seen someone get that excited about a gold star. To her, it is her Academy Award and Nobel Prize, and she deserves every bit of the recognition. It is just a shame that she can not give her acceptance speech. That gives me an idea, I will suggest that she do, and post it here on Active Rain for all to enjoy. She will love doing that on her birthday.
