Columbia SC This past weekend McEntire Joint National Guard Base sponsored an airshow that featured dozens of military planes and ground vehicles and the Golden Knights paratroopers.
About 1,200 men and women train at the base that is the home of the 169th Fighter Wing.
The SC Air National Guard has flown F-16s since 1983, with over 2,600 combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Saturday was a beautiful clear sunny day for the event but unfortunately I went on Sunday with a 900' cloud ceiling and the air show was limited.
That didn't stop me from climbing in the planes and getting some great shots.
It's hard to believe that some of these large cargo planes can make it off the ground.
As you can see there were a lot of families out enjoying the show
There was no entrance or parking fee and all expenses were covered by concession sales. We enjoyed our share of burgers and hot pretzels.
No true airshow would be complete without a P-51 Mustang or two
Finally the clouds broke up partially and some smaller planes took to the air
This was a nice surprise. I have never seen a custom chopper at an air show before.
No story would be complete without a little bathroom humor. (Courtesy of Nature's Calling)
