Advantages of a Marketing Director

I have a Marketing Director, Mindy Jo Hovanec, who is a life saver for me! She handles all of my marketing, from flyers, print ads, designing my business cards, etc. On top of all of this she organizes my office for me. This allows me time to focus on my listings, clients, and closings. If I am in a meeting, she is there to answer my phone. She is a whiz at designing flyers and ads. I would strongly suggest that every Realtor look at the option of hiring a Marketing Director. A Realtor wears many hats, and we can't be the best at everything. I would love to have feedback from other agents about what they have done to provide outstanding service for their clients. I am always looking for ways to improve!

Hmmm, I like that title.  While I am an agent, I am doing marketing work for other agents.  It's starting to consume a lot of my time - yes, they do pay me!  It is something I enjoy....

I will add, that I do think it is important to work as a team.  Each hat fits and looks differently.  I think juggling the hats too much can be detrimental to one's business.

My mom is my Listing Manager. She does my flyers, measures homes, virtual tours, feedback through email every Tuesday for all my listings, and staging advice. I love it..that is the part I hate! I loveSALES!!

We've had one....your comments are well spoken, but only if the right person is in the driver's seat...good points

The technological demands of professional businesses are not what they used to be. Not only must you have a website, you must have one that looks professional and is easy to use or clients won't take you seriously.  The last place I worked before coming to the Norris Group, they had a rather dated website with 15 pages. I added over 130 pages making it an entire online portfolio.  A new hire shortly after told me she almost didn't join the company because of their bad website!

So not only does bad design drive clients away but possibly business partners and potential employees.

If you're in an area that has Craiglist.com, take advantage of your local graphic designers.  I work with a few vendors since I've gotten so busy and I've never met any of them in person.  It's hard, even as a trained graphic designer, to stay current on all the new releases of software.  If you don't take branding and presentation serious, you're doing yourself a huge disservice.

HEY, SHERI,

Don't make Mom do Thanksgiving Dinner. Take her out to a swank Brunch. Not only do we have to be there for elementary school, middle school and high school, now parents are involved in the kids jobs?

I for one plan on retiring and I hope soon!!! at least you are grateful and polite!! Take care,

Carolyn, I'm not quite sure what your comment means.  Maybe you posted it on the wrong blog?

Judi, I know that you are helping the other agents out in your office, but couldn't you make more money by focusing your time on clients?

Carolyn,

My mom is there by choice. She loves doing it. She always wanted to be in Real Estate and never could afford to do it. She retired from computer programming because she HATED it and WORKED 60-80 hours a week. Now she gets to do what she likes, make her own schedule, and eat lunch with me everyday, I PAY!! She is very much appreciated, however the comment about elementary, middle and high school, is incorrect for all people. MY mom had to work 2 jobs and go to school at night due to a divorce and having 4 kids. So she was not there for all of my school sports, homework, PTA meetings, Girl Scouts etc.. She IS A GREAT MOM, and I love having her with me in my office doing what SHE WANTS to do. She could quit tomorrow, and I would be fine, I have people who can do this job. It is FOR HER to have something to do. So before you assume everyone lived the same life and we all fit into ONE mold, find out the details. If you were to ask her she would be CRUSHED if she did not have something to do and be with me on a daily basis. It makes her feel important. She does a GREAT JOB! go to my website and you will see her picture..she is very HAPPY to be on the team!  www.homeintegrityteam.com   and YES me and My sister do THANKSGIVING DINNER, she attends!!

Sheri, right now, I only do about 3-6 hours a week for other agents, one of whom, we are moving towards becoming a team and the second is my manager.  I've always worked better as a "support person" and have even thought of moving into the marketing/computer area on a full time basis.  I need to pay my bills, and right now any little bit helps.   If my clients were buying, yes, I'd make more money - but they took the month of September off (really).
