What's Happening 12-28-11

Bright and sunny out today but it is pretty chilly if you ask me. Still what do you really expect the temps to be the week after Christmas?

So how does this Hump Day find you? I am busy and will have to run and pay our property taxes in just a little while. Not looking forward to standing in line with all the other people that wait until the last minute. Speaking of property taxes, had a couple stop by the office to see what they could do to get their taxes lowered. They had bought a tract of land over 10 acres and it is going to be their primary residence. Currently the taxes are about 10X what they should be.

Freaking shame that the Anderson County Tax Assessor jumped their taxes up to an unbelievable amount. I guess the County has to do everything they can to screw...I mean raise all the revenue they can......

So if these people head over to the Tax Office on River Street and fill out the form stating this will be their primary residence AND request the Agricultural Exemption, they should be able to get their taxes lowered to a reasonable amount. Of course, it means dealing with bureaucrats which is never fun.....

Something else that isn't fun but must be addressed is the latest Case-Shiller Home Price Index. If you are looking to buy or sell a home, you must not stick your head in the sand about current market conditions. Yet I must also caution you that many national reports will not give you all the information you need to make an informed decision. Which is why I compare and contrast home prices in Upstate SC to the latest Case-Shiller Home Price Index. I hope you will check out today's article:
