Next weekend, the Young Sommelier Super Regional Competition, conducted and administered by the American Chapter of the Court of Master Sommeliers, is being held at the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
The competitors participating in this event must be between the ages of 21 and 32, have an interest in wine, and be sponsored by a member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs (a worldwide fine dining and wine club). Winners of this event will go on to the National Young Sommelier Competition in Las Vegas to compete against other regional winners. The competition consists of a written theory exam, practical skills (decanting, champagne service, glassware, etc), and blind tasing of six wines.
