The fireworks were awesome and there over 2000 drummers in one performance. China is going all out to make this one of the most spectacular Opening Ceremonies that ever before. It is an opportunity for the Host Country to Showoff a bit and that generates lots of excitement. It is such an opportunity for those young athletes (and some not as young) to compete for the top honors for their country and teams/individuals. I could not stay away from the TV this evening. Normally, that is not too hard to do as TV Programming is not very good now.
Even this early in the Opening Ceremonies, technology is a huge part of the show/ceremony. Those 5 joined rings lifting from the floor to ceiling is beautiful. Their universal sense of pride in their nation is evident. The artwork with technology is unusual and dramatic. The choreography outstanding; everyone was in their best form. Most choreographed sessions were done by males. Again, the fireworks are awesome and I would have liked to have seen this in person. The Parade of Nations is in process now . An event like this could be on one of my wish lists for the future.
The games should be really interesting; it is good that these young people have the opportunity to try to win the top spots in their fields of expertise. That is a level of dedication not everyone can have.
