Freedom Weekend Aloft In Simpsonville SC

 

This weekend is the annual Freedom Weekend Aloft, one of the top annual events in the country. This thirty year old event offers a relaxing, family oriented, affordable and fun-filled weekend. Freedom Weekend Aloft is May 27 - May 30 and will be held at Heritage Park, Simpsonville, SC. The events include 70 hot-air balloons (from all over the country) competing daily for various prizes and painting the sky with color. The RE/MAX balloon will be giving tethered balloon rides daily. Other events include amphitheater concerts, food from local and regional restaurants, fireworks, Disc Dog Competition(one of six national qualifiers with over 100 teams), amusement rides, continual daytime entertainment and kid zone designed for the event’s younger audience, Memorial Day Fireworks, and much, much, more.

 

Although I’m a little partial to the balloons, one of the other events is considered one of the nation's premier Frisbee dog contests. The U.S. Disc Dog Freedom Weekend Nationals (a nationals qualifier) features world class Frisbee dogs from around the county vying for a share of great prizes and trophies. Get your DOG, get your DISC, and come join the FUN as you explore, celebrate and stand in awe before the special relationship between people and the disc dogs that share their lives. 12 and under are free with paid adult admission.
