Shrub did it again. Kyle Busch dominated Bristol's Food City 500 Sprint Cup race today in Tennessee. I love NASCAR, but I have to admit that it was a pretty boring race for the most part. Kyle headed to the front early and didn't let up for most of the 500 laps. Short tracks tend to have either many wrecks/cautions or long runs. There were a total of nine yellow flags, but no major wreckage (which is a good thing for all involved). And, happily, my boy Jeff Gordon wracked up another Top 5 finish (his third Top 5 in five races, fourth Top 10) and has stretched his points lead in the 2009 Standings by even more by finishing 4th today. And a quick shout out to Kasey Kahne for finishing 5th, too. Way to go, Kasey!
Did anyone else think it was a pretty boring race? Go ahead, tell me I'm an idiot if you think so. It's not that I want anyone to get seriously hurt. And, when Kyle bumped his teammate Denny Hamlin to go to the front of the pack, I didn't think that was so awful (even though I am definitely NOT a Shrub fan) because he didn't spin Denny to get ahead. I don't agree that spinning someone is just racing. Rubbin' is racin' means a little bump here and there is not a big deal. Spinning IS a big deal. That's chicken-(censored) racing to me. Anyway, stay tuned to Fox next Sunday at 1:30pm ET for more short track racing at Martinsville.

I agree. It was boring. I had to leave for about 30 minutes but it didn't even look like I missed anything. Here's a time the COT made the race boring. Even though I am not a fan that watches for wrecks, they do tend to change the race dynamics and Bristol has always been known for a place where the cars are torn up afterwards. The COT is too stable and the cars don't spin or bang up that bad at Bristol so, the race was boring with Busch leading most of the race. By the way I am a die hard Stewart fan and I am glad to see his team is doing as well as it is their first season.
Heather - I didn't get a chance to really watch the race. I was wishing that Jimmie Johnson would have won.
I hope next week is much more exciting, Ron.
Robert - It would have been nice to see Jimmie win. He just didn't seem to have it in him today.
yep not one of the better Bristol race's it was ok but needed more excitement ...more pushing and shoving and spins ....kind of a lame race.... peace zane
I wondered when you would respond, Zane. :)
I didn't get to watch the race. I did DVR it. I guess I won't spend alot of time trying to find time to watch it. I picked Harvick to win, heard he was in a crash!
No major wrecks happened, Kimberly. But a couple of guys were taken out of the race pretty early on.
In a word BORING ! The track changes have definitely tamed the race, and removed the very reason Bristol WAS such an exciting race. I would not be suprised to see attendance fall in the future.
That's for sure, Denny. I'm not saying I like to see cars smashed up all over the place, but there was nothing interesting. Even the wrecks were pretty small and boring. No big, edge-of-your-seat finish, either.
I found it so boring that we didn't watch the whole thing. We started doing house work and stuff. Stayed for the end, but I couldn't get into the race.
I understand, Kate. I have NASCAR on TiVo in case we are out and can't watch. This is one I wouldn't have minded be out and unavailable for.
Hey Heather, Glad to accept your invite to the group. I will post another blog on Bristol as soon as I catch up on some work.
Boring, capital B. And to think my trip took 15 hours to get there! Ah, well... so it goes. It's the track, all the races since it was changed have been lame. Seats are easy to get there now. There were still tickets available at the track on Saturday for Sunday's race --- that hasn't happened in 50 years there!
Welcome to the group, my dear April. I'm glad to have you here. Look for my recap of Sunday's race sometime Sunday afternoon. I'm a big Jeff Gordon fan. But, don't hold that against me. :)
