The Golf Capitol of Tennessee
Crossville, Tennessee is one of the most well-known places in Tennessee for being the Golf Capitol of Tennessee. With 12 total courses throughout the county, this place is a golfer's heaven to come and visit. There are many premier courses in many of the communities of Cumberland County, including Fairfield Glade, Lake Tansi, Crab Orchard and Homestead.
One of the more famous courses in Crossville, Bear Trace, was actually designed bu Jack Nicklaus. In 2001, it was named in the "Top Ten Courses in Tennessee" by Golfer's Digest. This 6,900 yard, 72 par course is any golfer's dream to play. In 1999, it was placed in a top ten list of the country! This beautiful course is located right beside the Cumberland Mountain State Park in Homestead.
The annual "City of Crossville Golf Tournament" is coming soon. This year, it will be held at the Lake Tansi Golf Course on Tuesday, June 29th. Anyone is allowed to play and this is a great way to get involved with the local residents and have a great day of golf. For more information on this event, call 931-456-6632.
