Room In The Inn Ministry Serves Nashville Homeless

Tonight I had the pleasure of serving and sharing a meal with 14 homeless men living on the streets of Nashville. My church, The Peoples Church in Franklin TN is a participating church in the Room In The Inn ministry serving Nashville's homeless.

Room In The Inn is a partnership with more than 175 local churches. These churches provide shelter for 1,286 individuals from November 1 - March 31.

Every Monday evening, our church hosts 12 - 14 men. We serve them a meal, let them pick new clothing items from our clothing closet donated by members of the church, provide them with shower facilities and wash their clothes.

Then these men get a good night's sleep. They are served a hot breakfast the next morning and given a very nice bag lunch including two sandwiches, chips, fruit, drink and a sweet snack.

Last year, with the help of approximately 5,000 volunteers, giving almost 130,000 hours of service and driving nearly 500,000 miles, Room In The Inn provided over 29,000 beds, over 22,000 showers, and served over 60,000 meals and almost 30,000 snacks/lunches to their homeless guests.

We do this to bless these men. Instead, they bless us.
