Jumbe Has Arrived at the Knoxville Zoo

Giraffe at Knoxville ZooWow! I Just love the zoo. Always have. So much goes on, so much to see, and so much to do at the zoo. When I opened my morning paper to see that Jumbe has arrived at the Knoxville zoo, well, I just had to write about it!

Jumbe (JUME-bay) is a 17 foot tall, male giraffe that came from the Dickerson Park Zoo, Springfield, MO. Unfortunately, Jumbe is only here on a breeding loan to Knoxville, under the Species Survival Plan, so I won't expect him to be here very long.

Knoxville Zoo Giraffe

Knoxville Zoo is a great place to walk around, not to mention they host a lot of different events and activities. Of course, when my son and his family came for a visit a few years ago, we had to "do the zoo," It was a pretty warm day in late April and the giraffes were just wandering about.

A great big welcome to Jumbe, on his arrival to Knoxville Zoo!
