My Hero - My Dad!!

My Dad has been pretty sick the last few weeks. A stroke several years ago has left him very fragile.

I visited him at the hospital today. As the doctors struggle to find the right medication to help him fight the infection from pneumonia, he lay there in a coma.

I sat bedside just staring at him. Thankful that he is my DAD. So proud of him. How much I have learned from him over the years. How many times he has said to me "You can do it"!

Dad has always been a risk taker. Starting his business in the 50's when times were just as uncertain. My Dad was an awesome TV salesperson and repairman. I can still remember when color TV pictures hit the market. Everybody we knew wanted to replace their old black and white TV's. We were rich.....or so we thought. My Mom got a new stove, and all us kids got a bicycle.

I remember when we built our new home in 1957. We were the first family in the community to have an indoor bathroom. With four children, can you believe one bath. Amazing what we take for granted today.

Dad has always been a GOD fearing, Church going man. Firm, high expectations, consequences were certain if you disobeyed or broke the rules, demanded respect, kind, and always a family man.

I am certain there is no finer man than my DAD. He has taught me the kind of person I want to be from his example.

Every child deserves a DAD like mine.....how lucky I am.
