Today I received a call from a prospect interested in moving to Nashville from New Jersey. He and his wife want to escape the harsh New Jersey winters. He wanted to know from a resident what he could expect from Nashville weather.
Over the Thanksgiving weekend we had 75 degree temps. Today, however, was cold and rainy about 40 degrees.
While the temps can dip as low as 17 degrees in January and as high as 107 degrees in August, that is not the norm.
The average low in January is 28 degrees. While the average high is 89 degrees in July. The humidity in Nashville can be high during the summer months.
Nashville has four distinct seasons. It does snow in Nashville but only a few times a year and not usually more than a few inches at a time. Last year, our weather was a little colder causing the snow to stick around a little longer than usual.
The Middle Tennessee area does experience tornados in the Spring and usually one is spotted or touches down here. Our largest rainfall typically appears in May with an average of 5 inches. In May 2010, Nashville received 17 - 18 inches of rain within a two day period. The result was massive flooding in the area.
Below are the average high and low temperatues by month for Nashville:
January

March
April
May
