Okay, misconception.....Staging is very expensive and no one could possibly make my house look better. I would have to have all new furniture. I would need everything new....NO!

Staging is about taking what the seller currently owns and making the most of it. Realtors that offer staging consultation as a part of their listing presentation may want to explain this upfront. It takes very little money to have a professional staging consult. It takes as little as a half day for a professional stager to make an incredible difference in whether the house sells and how long it will take for it to sell.

Another misconception...I live in an expensive home and I hired a designer to complete my decor. Staging is "NOT" decorating it is preparing the home to sell. It is not just the homes that are in affluent neighborhoods that need the talents and service of the professional stager, it is every home vacant and occupied. Average price for a consultation $150 for two hours and a written report, average time for a staging, half day to a full day, price $350-800. Return on investment reportedly over 300% at closing, plus a shorter time on the market.
