They were called "The Greatest Generation" for a reason

I received these posters in an e-mail from an elderly friend of mine who fought in World War II. This national attitude, this dedication to our country and what it stood and, indeed, still stands for sometimes seems so remote today.

The United States is not great because we provide health care, or bank bailouts, or union wages. The United States is great because we have always be willing to shed our blood for the underdogs, the less fortunate, the enslaved and the oppressed.

Let us never forget that we have incredibly brave young men and women who today volunteer to do the work that our Fathers started. These posters may seem quaint, a bit naive and even hokey, but the spirit and determination they display still exists in the United States today.
