As technology gets better and better, people are relying on real estate agents less and less. In a way, I think that's GREAT! When it comes to searching homes on the MLS people are finding public searches for just about any city in the US. Even the acronym "MLS" is becoming more and more recognized. People are using search phrases like "Nashville MLS search" or "Nashville MLS listings" more and more rather than phrases like "Nashville home search". With all of that being said, it makes our jobs as agents easier and easier. I am not saying obsolete... just easier.

I really do enjoy looking for homes on the MLS, but with enough buyers it can take a lot of time out of your day. This is where technology and IDX searches have saved me HOURS every single week. People enjoy doing a home search from the comfort of their couch so why not advertise for it? Sure, agents like to have "control" of potential clients. Agents want clients to feel like they NEED them.

If you give people enough information then eventually they will come to you for more. As much as would like for people to feel like I am the only one who can search for houses, I have realized that if I let them do the work they eventually send me the ones that they want to go see!
